Riverview Park & Ride now open
Friday, 27 November 2009
Councillor Steve Desroches is pleased to announce that the City has officially opened the first permanent Park & Ride in Riverside South.
“This new park and ride is a great addition to the community and will serve the growing population in south Ottawa,” said Desroches. The Riverview Park & Ride, located on the south side of Earl Armstrong Road across from the Riverside South Plaza, and east of River Road, will serve the growing community in south Ottawa as well as the surrounding rural communities. “I am hopeful that more families will now be encouraged to take public transit rather than drive into work,” added Desroches. The Riverview Park & Ride will accommodate 155 vehicles in the first phase, with future capacity for almost 1,000 spaces. The lot will be served by Routes 99, 189 and 245. See below for more details.

Residents view plans for future subdivision
Friday, 27 November 2009
The types of buildings and traffic impacts were the main concerns expressed by many residents during a recent meeting for a proposed new subdivision in Riverside South between River Rd. and Spratt Rd. The new subdivision proposal includes 141 single lots, 180 street town units, two apartment-style blocks (mixed-use residential), a school area, public park and commercial section. Following concern from some in attendance at the meeting about the notion of including apartments in the area, Jim Burghout, development manager for Claridge Homes, noted that the mixed-use buildings would not be the traditional idea of apartments.
