Registration for the Gloucester South Youth Softball Association is open at Sawmill Creek Pool on Saturday March 27th from 9:30am to 12:30pm. GSYSA is a family-centric, community-oriented league. We strive to make it a fun-filled activity for boys and girls ages 4 to 18. As well, we offer a summer-friendly May to June season.
The league is looking for coaches and umpires...a great way to earn volunteer hours! We're also looking for sponsors. Visit their website at www.gsysa.ca for more details, or call Mike Ball at 613-294-2045.

New Feedermain for Riverside South and Barrhaven
Tuesday, 09 March 2010
Councillor Steve Descroches is pleased to report that the new feedermain project for South Ottawa went to tender last week, with construction expected to commence immediately following project award. This large diameter watermain will link the Ottawa South Pump Station (just south of the Airport) with Riverside South and Barrhaven.
Once this watermain is commissioned, both Riverside South and Barrhaven will have a secondary source of water, providing a backup system should the Woodroffe Avenue watermain be put out of service for any reason. This project will also support the current and future growth in our community. The duration of this construction project will be a year and a half.

New OC Transpo spring schedules go into effect on Sunday, April 18, 2010. New timetables are available for all peak period and express routes, including routes 99 and 245.
Click here to view the new timetable for Route 99, which is changing to every 12 minutes during peak rush hour in the morning. Route 245 will be revised to start and end on Rideau Valley Drive at Century Road. Route 245 will no longer serve Kars and North Gower due to low ridership from these areas that does not meet minimum performance standards. Residents in these communities may wish to use Park & Ride lots located in Manotick at the arena and in Riverside South on Earl Armstrong. Expansion in the works for the Rideauview Community Centre
Tuesday, 09 February 2010
Councillor Steve Desroches is pleased to announce that the City of Ottawa will add 1650 square feet of new community space to the popular Rideauview Community Centre.
“The community centre is an important hub and this $800,000 expansion will permit a greater range of youth and seniors programming,” said Desroches. Opened on June 17th, 2000 by the City of Gloucester, the community centre is a popular spot for youth and seniors programs, rentals, community meetings, and special events. “This expansion will also allow the City to expand its before and after school youth program which is in high demand,” added Desroches. The project will go to tender this Spring with construction set to begin this Summer. Councillor Desroches will also be at Moncion’s Your Independent Grocer on March 20th, 2010 from 11am-1pm to showcase the plans.
