Councillor Steve Desroches recently hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the Rideauview Community Centre on July 8, 2010. The expansion will add 1650 square feet of new community space including a multipurpose room, meeting spaces, and a storage room to the current building. John Bruce, President of the Riverside South Community Association, also attended the groundbreaking and is pictured with Councillor Desroches at the ceremony.

Opened on June 17th, 2000, the community centre is a popular spot for youth and seniors programs, rentals, community meetings, and special events. The community centre is an important hub and the expansion will permit a greater range of youth and seniors programming. The expansion is expected to be completed later this year.
