Off-leash area for dogs in Riverside SouthGreat news for local pet owners - a small off-leash area for dog owners in Riverside South is now open and available for use. Since all the parks in Riverside South are currently designated as "Dogs on Leash" areas, the City of Ottawa has fixed up the area east side of the fire hall on Earl Armstrong Rd so that the community would have a area for dogs to be off leash. The City was able to utilize some surplus funds remaining from other projects and put in the parking area and fix up the grounds.  The off leash area is approximately 50m wide and 65m deep, which is the extent of the City’s ownership on the property.

This dog off leash area will be maintained until the plan of subdivision for that portion of Earl Armstrong moves ahead. The RSCA and the City ask that anyone using the area to please pick up after their pets and bring any bags back home as there are no garbage cans on site. Please note that since this area is not a formally recognized park, it is not serviced by City of Ottawa staff for clean up. The grass area is cut when crews are out to mow the boulevard and/or the lawns at the fire hall.

For more information, visit the City of Ottawa Dogs in Parks webpage.
