City Policy Restricts Staff from Attending RSCA Monthly Meeting Print E-mail
Monday, 12 June 2006

The RSCA’s next monthly meeting is this Thursday, June 15, 7pm at the Rideauview Community Centre Room A/B.  One of the key the items to be discussed at the meeting was the plans for the parks in the community. Additional features are to be added to Claudette Cain Park and construction is due to commence soon on Park #5 on Spratt Road next to the new English Public elementary school. However, the RSCA has been informed by City Councillor Diane Deans’ office that neither Mr. Kevin Wherry or Patrick Legault, the two park planners assigned to oversee the parks in Riverside South, are able to attend the meeting due to restrictions to overtime. This recent City policy was brought in by Council as a means of reducing the City’s operating budget. As a result, it has become considerably more difficult for volunteer community groups to consult with City staff. (0) Comments

You meet the nicest people on the bus
The Ottawa Citizen
Published: Thursday, April 27, 2006

I was a little apprehensive about taking the bus so far into the city from Riverside South every day, and I wondered how long it would take and whether the bus would be on time.

But my pleasant experience on the No. 45 express bus from North Gower, via Manotick, has been wonderful. It is a 40-minute commute on a bus that's usually standing-room-only when we leave Riverside South on the way to our workplaces downtown.
