City to Adopt Councillor Desroches’ Recommendations for Leitrim and Limebank Road Intersection
Wednesday, 03 September 2008

Councillor Steve Desroches would like to inform residents that the City will adopt his recommendations to replace the current three-way stop signs and install traffic control signal and streetlights at the intersection of Limebank Road and Leitrim Road in the Fall of 2008.

The City will also improve the lighting leading to the intersection and install a traffic camera which can be monitored from the City of Ottawa website. “I know safety is important to residents. Temporary traffic lights are a better solution for motorists along this busy stretch of road”, said Desroches. Most of the equipment will be recycled once the intersection is aligned, widened and upgraded.

On September 18th from 7:00-9:00p.m Councillor Desroches will be hosting a community meeting with the Riverside South Community Association. City Staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information at the Rideauview Community Centre at 4310 Shoreline Drive.

Series of Vehicle Break-Ins in Riverside South
Thursday, 24 July 2008

The RSCA has learned that over the past few weeks, several cars have been broken into during the evenings and over night.  In many cases, various items have been stolen from the vehicles.  In some cases, the vehicles were also vandalized.  A number of incidents of vehicle break-ins and vandalism have been reported on most streets periodically over the past three to four years.

The RSCA strongly recommends that residents lock your car doors, even if you are parked in the garage.  Additionally, do not leave valuables, or any items, in plain view if your vehicles are parked in your driveways over night.

If you vehicle is broken into and / or vandalized, please call the Police at 613-236-1212 ext 7300 to report the crime.  The more reports they receive about this type of activity, the more aware they become of the extent of the problem our community is facing.  We also invite you to report any incidents on our Virtual Neighbourhood Watch Program (NWP) Discussion Forum so your neighbours and fellow residents can be aware and take the necessary precautions to protect their property.  The Virtual NWP Discussion Forum is available at http://www.riversidesouth.org/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=258&board=18.0
