Since moving to Riverside South in January this past winter, I have been complaining to Bell about the lack of service bars on my phone and dropped calls. Prior to moving, I brought this up with them and was told to purchase a new phone to go on the new network, which I did. This morning (Tuesday July 13), I finally received a call with an answer. I was told that a cell tower needs to be built here in Riverside South. I was told that the funds for the project were not a problem, but that it was a matter of determining where the tower could be built. I was also told that the two closest towers were at the corner of Strandherd and Greenbank, and at the Ottawa Airport. When I said I lived a 5 minute drive from the airport, I was told that if the tower gets overloaded with users, that people's call priorities can be dropped by Bell, resulting in poor signal strength and dropped calls. Pressure needs to be put on Bell so that their cell service can improve in this area. From what I understand, I am not the only one concerned in the neighbourhood. I do not use a LAN line, I only use my cell. That being said, there is only one room in my home that provides a relatively reliable signal - rather inconvenient.

Concerns can be sent in a letter to the following address:

Executive Office
Client Relations Advisor
5099 Creekbank Road - East Tower
Main Entrance - Ground Floor
Missaussaga, Ontario
L4W 5N2

Fax: 1-877-874-0414

Please be sure to give them your contact information and details about where you are.

The more people that submit their concerns, the sooner we can improve our service here in the area. Hopefully we can also contact our local city councillor as the city will have to approve where a tower will be built.

Any feedback out there???

Thanks!

The same problem occurs with Rogers customers in our neighborhood.  It doesnt matter which phone I have tried (Motorola, Blackberry, IPAQ) -- they all have the same crappy signal...  I too have one room in my house with barely a signal and dead everywhere else.

I've tried every way I can think of to contact Rogers to try to get their attention on this, but nothing has ever been responded to. The closest Rogers tower is way over in Barrhaven south (at least according to the AGPS on my phone). If anyone knows of a way of effectively communicating with Rogers about this, please speak up and let us all know.

Is this something that the Community Organization can lobby our city councillor for? BTW, who is our city councillor? I haven't checked since I moved to the area.

Is anyone out there that is a Bell customer willing to write a letter to the address I provided in my initial post?

Cheers,

Marc
